2 Drawings I just did.

These two took me about 10 mins each, not perfect, but I was bored and only had one pencil.

This last one is for an upcoming project of mine for the 1920's.

A Print I did a While ago.

This Print is a mixture of two hand drawn pieces and a print out of a Poem which I have chopped and changed. This is a screen print which has been layered in 3 sections. The first is plain black, the second a burgundy which I hand mixed and the third and final layer is a mix of browns and greens on the Anchor.
I love the layout and finish of this print. On the jersey the ink has lifted and splattered the material with the lifting of the screen. I love this effect as it looks quite authentic.

Liza's Top Ten Jackets and Coats for Fall/Winter

Ok ladies... so now that the leaves have fallen, Halloween is Sunday, and soon enough we'll have snow, we must all be prepared with the cutest jackets and coats for the chilly weather. I always say coats are a pain because when it's freezing out, no one can ever see the outfit you have on underneath. With these ten beauties below though, wearing a great outfit won't even matter... these are just too fabulous for words. XO, Liza

Opening Ceremony 3/4 Sleeve Cropped Trench Coat- So I have NEVER been into trenches, whether they are basic or all redone. This one though is awesome. I love how short is is and I am a sucker for coats that look like little dresses.

Proenza Schouler Toggle Cropped Jacket- UGH! Drool! This is beyond sick. I would do anything for this one. Paired with the Proenza J Brands too? Perfection.

Proenza Schouler Double Breasted Peak Lapel Coat- Ummm are you serious Proenza? Those guys honestly killed it for their fall collection. I think back to the shows and that one was hands down my fave. I remember seeing this coat come down the runway and I had no words. Really... none. It is that amazing. Such a statement piece.

Jenni Kayne Oversized Coat- Oooh this is just beautiful. I love how Shopbop paired it with a black dress, bare legs, and little booties. That is exactly how it should be worn in my eyes. Love it.

Peter Pilotto 3 Grid Metallic Trim Wool Coat- Whoa! What is this? You can always count on Peter Pilotto to give you something totally different and ultimately chic. This is stunning. It looks amazing on the model too. I'd love it with leggings or super skinny jeans.

Miu Miu Funnel Neck Wool Coat- Ahh Miu Miu. Never fails. This reminds me of a blouse of mine by Miu Miu I got a few years ago. I love this so much. I would wear it like crazy.

Isabel Marant Rick Rabbit Coat- I had to throw a fur in the bunch... I love a white fur and this one is unreal. The buttons on it are so cute, as well as the little collar. This would be a great coat to take from day to night.

Henrik Vibskov Dumpo Jacket- This probably wouldn't keep you very warm, but you would most definitely make a fashion statement! Had to throw it in the mix because it's so awesome.

Tsumori Chisato Zigzag Loop Coat- Tsumori never lets me down. EVER. Her stuff is consistently amazing. Whether it be a fabulous top or a funky pair of tights, I love it all. If I could afford it, I'd buy all of the Tsumori on Lagarconne and Forwardforward! Hahahaha. This coat is beautiful though.

3.1 Phillip Lim Boxy Coat- Last but not least! I love anything nubby and fuzzy and this Phillip Lim alpaca coat is fab.

Shoot of the Day: Caroline Trentini for Numero Japan

Oh Japan. They understand something that the rest of us don't. STRANGE, yet perfect construction. I don't know how they are so seemingly perfect at executing it every single time. Design wise. Editorial wise. Marketing wise. They kill it all the way around the spectrum! A bizarre and experimental silhouette has always been my natural inclination so Japanese designers are some of my favorites. This spread shot by David Vasiljevic caught my eye for obvious reasons. ;) Take a peep below.

X. Jewls

No words. I really have none. This dress is impeccable.

I love the hemline of the dress with this slouchy boot. It's a different take on an otherwise tired look. I like it. I also love that this shot is so overexposed. Genius.

So Roman looking with cuffs. This looks like a costume out of the movie Spartacus. Ha! I adore this outfit.

Dead on the floor. I need this piece to live. No, seriously.

 I love everything about this.

Her stance is so perfect with this garment.

Item of the Day: Rachel Antonoff Hitchcock Dress

Alright, so the minute I saw Alexa Chung wearing this during Fashion Week, I thought to myself... This dress BELONGS on me. End of story. Turns out it is designed by one of my favorite girly designers, Rachel Antonoff. I could do so much with this piece... pair it with oxfords, with booties, tights, decorative socks and heels... the list is endless. I am hoping this hits Bonadrag in the next few weeks, so I can wear it on my birthday! XO, Liza

Best Dressed of the Week: Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley

These two always look fabulous on their own, but put them together and voila... Perfection! Carey in Vionnet and Keira in Chanel are not only two of Hollywood's finest actresses, but also true fashion plates. I adore both of their dresses. So different from eachother, but equally elegant. Not to mention their makeup is absolutely flawless. Two thumbs up! Can't wait to see them together on the silver screen. XO, Liza

Critical study. Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood is an iconic designer of the 20th and 21st centuries. Her rebellious fashion style and determination are what has  made her so successful in such a difficult industry.
However she wasn't always so strong minded and determined; at 18 years old she started studying Fashion and Silversmithing at Harrow school of Art, London, but gave up after one term saying "I didn't know how a working-class girl like me could possibly make it in the Art world." After a few years of normal day to day life, she met Malcolm McLaren and had an affair. He opened a shop in London, in which she started to sell a few of her 'outrageous' designs which drew inspiration from bikers, fetishes and prostitutes.

McLaren became manager of the Sex Pistols, a punk band, and Westwood Designed clothes for them; with their profile rising in the music scene, her 'punk' style clothing was becoming more and more fashionable and Westwood became a bigger name. She still owns that shop now, and it is one of only 5 shops exclusively owned by Westwood herself.

In her Earlier Career she was heavily influenced by the music scene, particularly punk. This included the use of chain, safety pins, razor blades and dog collars as accessories; She helped to revolutionize fashion at this point in time. She created a new rebellious look, just as was previously done with groups like the 'Mods' in the 60's, teens had icons like the sex pistols to look up to, and they copied their style.

Vivenne Westwood Has always been interested in politics, perhaps this is why her earlier work was so straight forward and in your face. She made bold statements, sometimes the statements were written on the clothing along with vivid imagery to get her point across. in her later work, from the 201st century, her political involvement has become even more evident. In 2005 she joined forces with political rights group Liberty and produced a limited edition collection of t-shirts and baby-wear, bearing the slogan "I'm not a terrorist please don't arrest me."
She also speaks out against 'consumerism' and 'propaganda' and frequently uses political phrases in her collections to make the consumer market think about the world we live in, much like Kate Hamnett does with her bold slogan t-shirts.

In more recent years Westwood has created some extravagant evening wear yet she still pushes the boundaries on these designs.
For example there is this green ball gown which Westwood designed, that it a lot more over the top and eye catching than most other designs on the catwalk. She has taken influences from past eras and made them more contemporary for example, here we have and old fashioned 18th century skirt, with a large rear section, but the shoulder line is very modern, a strapless top with a bow detailing on the front which creates an edgy sweetheart neckline. The green is also quite metalicy which suggests a more modern feel to the dress.
She has also become reinvented as a designer from her work for the movie sex in the city, for which she created a vulumptious wedding gown not dissimilar to the gown mentioned above. It seems that Westwood has the capabilities to last in the Fashion world because of this ease of adapting her style to fit the consumer whilst still retaining her quirky image in her clothes.

My opinion on Vivienne Westwood is a mixed one, I don't particularly dislike any of her clothes, because I appreciate the concepts and work that has gone into her collections, but I cant see myself wearing some of her garments; many people think that they are slightly too out of the box and different, but I think that it is the top designers job to push the boundaries and limitations with their designs, and let the high street filter it down to consumer taste level. You want to be able to look at an item of designer clothing and be slightly taken aback by some quality of it. Yet there are some of her clothes, mainly the more recent ones for me, that capture femininity and beauty so well and the clothes can be quite awe inspiring, for example her spring 2010 collection is simplistic yet fun and playful, and I can imagine a lot of women wanting to wear those clothes.
Vivienne Westwood has made me think about the meaning of the clothes I would like to create, not just how they look, and also about pushing the boundaries that little bit more, to shock or grab attention from people.
